Paisley live music guide for the week ahead

22nd Jun 2024

The Skids are coming! And it is an up close and personal doubler on Friday night, 21 June and Saturday night, 22 June.

The Skids were at the heart of the punk scene in Scotland and took their music to London where they were signed by Virgin records. They made four albums and had numerous hit singles including Into the Valley, The Saints are Coming, Masquerade and Working for the Yankee Dollar.

After the cover version of The Saints are Coming by U2 and Green Day, the remaining band members reformed and played to large audiences all over the UK, including iconic London venues such as The Albert Hall and The Roundhouse as well as Barrowlands in Glasgow.  Their recently released album ‘Destination Dusseldorf’ went to No.1 in the vinyl charts.

Richard Jobson said “Don’t over think it – Just do it. Enjoy every minute of it. Play the songs like it might be the last time. Give it everything” and that is exactly what they do, just wait and see. Doors are at 7.00pm. Check the venue for tickets as this will be a busy one. Doors are 7.00pm.

On Saturday 22 June, The Bobby Deans Big Band is back for another afternoon of the very best in big band tunes, jazz and swing. It’s free entry and doors are 1.00pm, but get in early if you want a seat. On Sunday 23 June, it is Scotland v Hungary in the Euros 2024 from 7.00pm. Entry is free with a ticket from Eventbrite.
