The National Award-winning charity Shopmobility Renfrewshire is taking part in this year’s Doors Open Day on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September 2024.
“As part of Doors Open Day this coming weekend, we’re inviting everyone into our Paisley base to try out our mobility scooters. This will help them realise how important these scooters are in giving people with mobility problems their independence back”, said Karen Miller, Office Manager and Fundraising Officer for Shopmobility Renfrewshire.
This will include giving visitors the opportunity of trying out their mobility scooters, helping them to understand the importance such equipment can have in boosting their wellbeing, by allowing them to participate in the economic, social and cultural events in their communities.
Shopmobility Renfrewshire provides four service to support people across Renfrewshire with mobility problems.
This includes free daily hire of wheelchairs, powerchairs (electric wheelchairs) and mobility scooters, with longer term hires at a low cost. They are also developing repairs and maintenance service for people with their own scooters. Shopmobility Renfrewshire have also received funding to organise and support social inclusion events. They are also developing an advocacy service, including accessibility surveys.
Karen Miller added: “It’s great to be taking part in Doors Open Day and promoting the services we provide to those with mobility difficulties. We can also advise you on safety measures from purchasing to maintaining mobility equipment. We’ve transformed the way we operate and the services we now offer. As a human-rights based organisation we are determined to make life easier for those with mobility problems.

Shopmobility Renfrewshire won the prestigious Tom Hillier award as the Best Shopmobility Centre in the UK earlier this year.
Shopmobility Renfrewshire is based on the ground floor of the Paisley Centre Car Park, 41 Storie Street, Paisley PA1 2AP. It is open between 10.00am to 4.00pm on Mondays to Fridays and 10.00am to 3.00pm on Saturdays (normally closed on Sundays).
