We are talking about suicide and suicide prevention and we know that the content may impact emotionally but remember, support is always available.
Too many lives have been lost to suicide. The more we talk about suicide, the more we can raise awareness. We can reduce the lives being lost to suicide. We can tackle stigma and break the silence surrounding suicide. The more conversations we have about it, the more we can make it okay for people to talk about their suicidal thoughts and feelings and get the help and support needed.
Suicide a very tragic response to overwhelming thoughts, feelings, experiences and situations. According to the World Health Organization one in every 100 deaths worldwide is the result of suicide, with more than 700,000 people globally losing their struggle to live every single year. Every suicide is a tragedy, and it creates ripples of devastation across families, communities
On average, every person who dies by suicide potentially affects upwards of 135 people who may have known that person in some way. If you scale that up, every year, upwards of 90 million people may be affected by suicide. So you can see why it’s vital that we, as a society, individually and collectively, we proactively work together to ensure that fewer people die by suicide.
