It looks like we are in for a bumper of a time this weekend.
Not only is it Spree for All, but it is also Doors Open Day 2023 and the start of The Big Art Show.
Spree for All officially started on Thursday 31 August, with live bands at The Bungalow, Rocknrollas, The Swan and The Keg. The event continues till Sunday.
Drink and a Drama kicks things off on Friday 1 September 2023 at The Bungalow with a short play called ‘Gut’ by Frances Post from the Burn the Cork Theatre Company. Doors are 1pm.
Graeme Kerr and his one-man loop show is at Barga from 4.00pm. Friday night, 1 September; Beatles for Sale are at The Bungalow, doors are 7.00pm.
The very popular Dead Flowers are playing at The Old Swan from 7.00pm. Top DJ Stevie will be playing some banging tunes at Shuttles from 7.00pm. Dirty Jewels will be on stage at The Cave from 8.00pm. You can hear the lovely voice of Leona Corio at Zambretto from 8.30pm. ‘Thee’ Johnny Barr is playing a solo set at The Keg, and he starts at 9.00pm.
Rocknrollas have a fantastic double bill featuring The Skapones and Big Fat Panda, doors are 9.30pm.
On Saturday 2 September, is a cracking day. ModStuff is back again and brings a whole load of style to the town and over a hundred scooters for a ride out.
It is at The Bungalow and the bands this year are, daytime from 1.00pm The Redstarts, The 45’s, The Laynes. In the evening from 7.00pm it is A Band Called Malice, Target 5 and Lemon Soul. The legendary T in The Swan has as usual an amazing line up including all the best cover bands in the country. All the action indoors and on the Garden Stage starts at 2.00pm and line up is: Slideshow, Trunk Monkey, Gypsie, Headhunters, The Dead Flowers, Moonshine Mojo, Epic, Drunken Angel and Stephen Henry.
The Paul Weller Experience are at The Cave from 4.00pm followed by a DJ set then Canyon at 8.00pm.
Gregor Hunter-Coleman is playing a solo set at Shuttles from 3.00pm then it will be DJ Jabba from 6.00pm. Rockabilly rousers Best Bad Influence are playing at The Anchor from 4.30pm. The Sneddon is the place to be for some cool sounds with ‘This is Ibiza’ because the very popular NUDE NNE Event is back and starts at 8.00pm. Singer Ashleigh Burns is at Zambretto from 8.30pm. Absolute Unit are at The Keg and start at 9.00pm.
On Sunday Rocknrollas have a Sunday Mash Up a whole day of live music including North To Abilene, Best Bad Influence, The Well Happy Band, Cherry Red 53 and to end the event it is Drums n’ Roses. Doors are at 12.30pm Sunday 3 September.
The Bungalow welcome back one of their popular Mod bands Shout, doors are 1.00pm. Get in early if you want a seat.
The Sunday Live Sessions are on as usual at Kennedy’s from 3.00pm and right after that, over at The Anchor, Ragamuffin starts at 4.30pm.
The Swan’s Northern Soul Club starts at the later time of 5.00pm. Barga have Graeme Kerr on again, and his loop set starts at 4.00pm. The Cave have Splendid Suns starting at 6.00pm and round the corners at The Bungalow, Scott Gibson Comedy Show is on and doors are 7.00pm.
Steve Nelson will be playing some saxophone favourites at All Things Retro at Restoration and Creation which is in Brown’s Lane, Paisley (at the top of Shuttle Street) at 12 noon.
While in town on Saturday 2 September, check out some of the street entertainment going on in the High Street. Look out for The Absurdist Pipe Band and don’t forget the scooter ride out. You can see the scooters meet up at County Square, Paisley from 12 noon, then head on down to ModStuff at The Bungalow.
Over the 4 days there are over 80 Acts taking part in what is a true community event.
