Paisley live music gig guide for the weekend and all next week

Born of Frustration from Glasgow are a ‘James’ tribute band, and they formed in 2015 to play for the official James Fanzone Scotland’s annual meet-up. They enjoyed playing the songs so much, they went out and eventually found Paul, who is their ‘Timposter’ to complete the band.

Since forming, the band have played some huge sell out gigs to tens of thousands of people. The list of venues and festivals they have played at is endless, but here are just some of them: Spike Island, Bowlers Arena (twice), Glastonferry, Manchester Academy (Twice), O2’s Birmingham (large room), Leicester, Newcastle, Liverpool, Edinburgh, London and Sheffield, The Barrowlands Ballroom and lots of festivals. You can get tickets on the door tonight from 7pm.

The Players are one of the hottest Mod Bands around and they are back at The Bungalow for another afternoon to give you an explosive musical journey from the 50’s onwards. Their set is a subculture inspiring Blues, R&B, Soul and Northern Soul. Doors are at 1.00pm.

Prepare to be amazed and transported back throughout the past 25 years of ‘Take That’ magic as Rule the World head back to The Bungalow on Saturday night, 21 September.

Re-live Over 25 Years of TAKE THAT History! Now in its 12th year touring, the award winning ‘Rule the World’ has been recognised as the Number 1 ‘Take That’ tribute show in the world! The cast recently appeared alongside THE REAL ‘TAKE THAT’ on BBC1’s ‘The Graham Norton Show’ and after hearing Dan Maines (Gary), a stunned Gary Barlow said in amazement: “He sounds like me!” The real Gary then also praised the whole band saying, “These guys are good!”.

The show is an accurate portrayal of a Take That’s live concert and the night features all the bands biggest hits including ‘Never Forget’, ‘Greatest Day’, ‘Back For Good’, ‘Relight My Fire’, ‘Could It Be Magic’, ‘Shine’, ‘Pray’, ‘These Days’, ‘Everything Changes’, ‘Patience’, ‘It Only Takes A Minute’, ‘Rule The World’ and many more. Tickets on the door from 7.00pm.

The Bungalow have booked the very popular Sound Affex for a Sunday afternoon special on 22 September. The band play a lot of the early years Jam tunes, which made the band famous. Doors are at 1.00pm and it is free entry.

On Tuesday, 24 September, it is Pint and a Paint night. For £3 entry you get art materials and help to create something while you listen to music from the Open Stage and have a beer. Doors are at 7.00pm.

A night of up-and-coming bands will be happening on Wednesday 25 September, tickets on the door at 7.00pm.

And Thursday’s Introducing Night (26 September) features Franks House, Sonny Leto and others. Tickets on the door from 7.00pm.

The Keg have Erin Hephzibah (pictured above) on at 9.00pm on Friday night and Saturday night, 21 September at 9.00pm it is Northern Holiday. The Keg Sessions for more original music starts at 9.00pm on Thursday 26 September.

On Friday 20 September, Keeper Lit is at The Old Swan from 8.00pm and on Saturday, 21 September, in the afternoon slot from 4.00pm it will be Midnight Moses. The Sunday Soul Club kicks off at 4.00pm with DJ’s John and Maria.

Lee James will be telling stories and singing songs from the decades on Tuesday and Thursday from 3.00pm. Live acoustic session are Monday and Wednesday from 4.00pm.

The Cave have another great double bill on Saturday 21 September, starting with Hung Jury at 5.00pm followed by Sonorous at 8.00pm and on Sunday at 6.00pm it is Emergency Exit.

On Sunday 22 September, Howlin Radio will be playing at Kennedys from 3.00pm and at 4.30pm at The Inn on the Corner, Jenni and the Blockheads will be ‘Rockin’ the Joint’.

Open Mic/Stage Sessions next week are: The Abbey at 9pm on Monday; Ugly Duck Monday at 7pm; The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday; The Bungalow on Tuesday 7pm; The Keg on Wednesday at 8.30pm and The Cave from 9.00pm on Thursday. The Inn on the Corner has an Open Mic on the last Tuesday of the month.
