The Paisley Pirates saw their 2024/25 season come to a narrow and emotional end on Sunday evening, 13 April 2025, following a closely fought 4-3 defeat to the Aberdeen Lynx at Braehead Arena. The high-stakes fixture was the final group match of the Play-Off qualifiers, with both teams vying for a place in the Semi Finals.
Knowing that only a win would be enough to progress, the Pirates delivered a determined and high-energy performance in front of their home supporters. Goals from Olly King, Jay Herd, and Chris Wilson showcased the offensive pressure applied by the Pirates throughout the match, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to overcome a clinical Lynx side who capitalised on their opportunities and held strong in the final period.
Man of the Match honours went to Chris Turley, who put in a tireless shift, leading by example and embodying the resilience and fighting spirit that the team has shown all season.
“The team gave everything out there tonight,” said a club spokesperson. “It’s not the outcome we wanted, but the effort, unity, and progress we’ve seen over the last few months speak volumes about where this group is headed.”
The defeat means the Aberdeen Lynx now move on to the Play-Off Semi Finals, while the Pirates begin their off-season preparations.
While the loss brings the curtain down on the 2024/25 campaign, the Pirates remain immensely proud of the strides taken throughout the year. Under the guidance of coaches Ian Turley and Rab Henderson, the team has shown visible improvement across the board, ending the season with momentum and a foundation to build upon for the future.
The club also extended its heartfelt thanks to the fanbase, whose support throughout the season—at home, on the road, and online—has been vital.
“The crowd at Braehead Arena this weekend was incredible,” the spokesperson added. “We heard every chant and saw every flag, and it meant the world to the team. We’re grateful to each and every one of our supporters.”
Further updates and a full season recap will be shared by the club in the coming days.
