Man jailed with conspiracy to murder in Glasgow

A man has been jailed in connection with conspiracy to murder in Glasgow.

James Patrick Richards, 36, was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, following the offence between 2 April 2020 and 14 April, 2020.

Richards was arrested in connection in June 2021, released and subsequently arrested on warrant after being extradited from Spain in January, 2026.

Detective Superintendent Steven Elliott said: “Richards came to Scotland with the sole purpose of taking another life. Thankfully, he was not successful in his intentions and he will now face the consequences of his actions.

“This sentence underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
