On this morning’s ‘Health Matters’ (Tuesday 9 June) on the James Cameron morning programme just after 11am, Nurse Jeanette’s topic was the need for a small Summer First Aid Kit within your holiday case luggage. Particularly if your holiday includes walking or any other physical activity or even for use on the beach with children and family.
Here is Nurse Jeanette’s suggested ‘Summer First Aid Kit’ content list:
- Ice pack – in case of an injury
- Plasters of various sizes and coverings of some sort
- Paracetamol (typical 500mg tablets) for heat strokes
- Antiseptic wipes
- Antihistamine is handy for Midgy bites
- Antiseptic gel
- Ibuprofen tablets and bandage for a strain when walking in the country
- Compression bandage
And final advice is that don’t go on long walks when the sun is high in the sky and very hot. Be mindful of hydration.
