Why I love presenting on the radio

Ever since I did work experience at ‘Your Radio’ when I was 16, I knew this was what I wanted to do – the radio bug bit hard and never let go! I love the unique connection between the presenter and the listener; it’s like having a chat with a friend over a cup of tea. Plus, getting to play some of the absolute best hits every single show while keeping our local audience entertained makes it the absolute dream job.

Fun fact about myself

I have a double freckle on my arm, and oh, and Greg James slid into my Instagram DMs. Okay, fine… I tagged him in a post, and he was replying with a ‘thank you’, but I still sobbed like a baby. A win is a win, right?

 

My favourite music acts of all time

I always find this such a hard question to answer! My music taste is so broad. Growing up, my parents would always have some 80’s classics on in the car (if it wasn’t the radio) including Simple Minds, ELO and Duran Duran! However, I am a real sucker for some 90’s anthems, being a 90’s baby and all. My one true love, as I’m sure the listeners know, will always be Harry Styles, so I guess that’s my answer!

My pre‑show routine

I’m a total planner when it comes to getting show-ready – winging it just isn’t in my DNA! Before the mic goes live, I like to have everything meticulously organised. That means reviewing the playlist so every hit is queued up to perfection, alongside prepping the topics I’ll be chatting about. Toss in a quick mic check and a fresh glass of water, and I’m ready to hit the faders!
