Johnstone Burgh travel to Nicol-Togneri Park, Pinefield, Elgin on Saturday 19th September to face NoSFL Championship side New Elgin JFC in the second round of the Scottish Communities Cup, in what will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs.
New Elgin JFC was founded in 1896. The club is a member of the Scottish Junior Football Association, and plays in the North of Scotland Football League Championship. The ‘Freestaters’ have won the Morayshire Junior League title on ten occasions, the Morayshire Junior Cup four times, been crowned North Region Division One champions in season 2012/13, won five North of Scotland Cups, and several other regional cups throughout their history.
New Elgin JFC play their home matches at Nicol-Togneri Park, located at 9 Perimeter Road, Pinefield, Elgin IV30 6DF. The spectator capacity is 1,000 and the playing surface is a grass pitch. The ground is a 201 mile drive from Keanie Park.
In the 2025/26 season the club finished 10th of 15 teams in the North of Scotland Football League Championship. This season New Elgin JFC currently sits in 11th place on the table, on 4 points after 5 games played. In their most recent match, the Elgin side lost 2-1 away to Banchory St Ternan FC on Saturday 12th September.
Johnstone Burgh come into Saturday’s match in excellent form, with four wins and a draw in our last five matches.
The Burgh currently sits in 8th place on the Scottish Lowland League West table, on 15 points after 8 matches played. In our most recent match, Stevie Farrell’s men delivered us the three points at Portland Park against Troon FC on Wednesday evening (16th September), with a fine 2-1 win, thanks to two goals from Max Kerr, in a match played in terrible weather conditions.
