Renfrewshire Provost's Community Awards set to celebrate 30th birthday as nominations open for 2027

Renfrewshire residents are invited to nominate community champions for the annual Provost’s Community Awards, celebrating the individuals, groups and organisations whose dedication helps make Renfrewshire a great place to live, work and visit.

The annual awards recognise those who make a positive difference in their communities, from volunteers and local groups to employees, sports champions and those contributing to arts and culture across the area.

This year’s award categories are:

Community Volunteer (sponsored by Glasgow Airport Ltd)
Community Group (sponsored by City Gate Construction)
Sport Award (sponsored by ACRE Industrial Services)
Employee of the Year (sponsored by UNISON Renfrewshire)
Arts and Culture Award (sponsored by Renfrewshire Council)

Provost Lorraine Cameron (pictured) said: “The Provost’s Community Awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise the people and groups who dedicate their time, energy and passion to supporting others and strengthening our communities.

“This year is particularly special as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the inception of the awards. For three decades, the awards have shone a spotlight on the outstanding individuals and organisations whose efforts make a real difference to life in Renfrewshire.

“I would encourage anyone who knows an outstanding volunteer, community group, employee, sportsperson or someone making an impact through arts and culture to submit a nomination. We know there are so many deserving individuals and organisations across Renfrewshire, and I look forward to reading this year’s nominations.”

The closing date for nominations is midnight on Tuesday 5 January 2027.

Following the closing date, a judging panel made up of the Provost, award sponsors and local elected members will select the winners. Successful nominees and the people who nominated them will be invited to attend a special awards ceremony in March 2027.
