Paisley live music gigs and shows for the weekend and all next week

The Smiths Ltd are returning to The Bungalow on Friday night, 14 August.  The Smiths Ltd was formed in Manchester – the UK the hometown of The Smiths.

After an extensive search to find the perfect Morrissey, the band played their first gig to an audience of avid Smiths fans. The response was spectacular and the band now plays at venues and festivals all over the UK.

Highlights include playing in front of a 2,500 capacity crowd at The Manchester Academy and 4,000 on the main stage at Bestival, Camp Bestival, plus Kendal Calling and 15,000 at Spike Island – The Resurrection.

If you never saw The Smiths, then this is your chance to experience the thrill of those great songs played live. The Bungalow have another great Saturday afternoon, 15 August, offering of fun filled rock tunes and more. Broken Angel return to The Bungalow stage and they are not to be missed. It is free entry and doors are 1.00pm. Expect a busy afternoon, so get in early.

Get the neon out the cupboard and join Tom Urie for a Saturday evening of 1980’s summer fun. £5 entry at the door from 7.00pm. Doors open at 1.00pm on Sunday afternoon for the very popular The P90’s.

The Bungalow Jam kicks off at 7pm on Tuesday 18 August. This week’s entertainment includes music, games, a quiz and the usual Open Mic. This is free entry.

The Bungalow Wednesday Club starts at 2.00pm with an afternoon of fun from singer John Griffith of The Bobby Deans Big Band and the weekly quiz.

Wednesday evening sees another poetry night from StoryTree. Doors are at 7.00pm.

On Thursday night 20 August, The Bungalow is hosting a Pitch Perfect Movie Night. The event is part of the venue’s “Bungalow Introducing: Movie Nights” series and promises a fun, music-filled evening celebrating the iconic a cappella comedy. Only £3 at the door from 7.00pm.

Ronnie T kicks off at The Old Swan from 4.00pm on Friday night, 14 August, and following him is a live set from The Lockhearts at 8.00pm.

On Saturday 15 August at 4.00pm at The Old Swan is Freight Train are ready to pound out some of your favourite rock classics.

The Sunday Soul Club  at The Old Swan starts at 4.00pm.

If you have nothing to do on Monday, treat yourself and get to The Old Swan to listen to the fantastic voice of Crawford Carlyle singing some of the best ‘singers’ tunes at 5.00pm on Mondays; Lee James on Tuesday 18 August at 3.00pm and every second Thursday at 5.00pm, and alternatively sometimes it is Cammy Miller.  Duncan McLellan will be onstage on Wednesday 19 August 5.00pm.

Greg James is playing at The Keg on Friday night, 14 August from 9.00pm.  On Saturday night, 15 August from 9.00pm it will be Bears with Feathers.  On Thursday, 20 August, you can discover a full line up of new or up and coming talent showcasing new original material, kicking off at 9.00pm.

Kennedys have Underdogs in on Sunday 16 August at 3.00pm and later at The Inn on the Corner, The Latest Flames are playing on from 6.00pm.

Every Thursday at The Anchor is a Scottish Trad Jam.  Join in and bring an instrument, play a song or join in. Or just sit back and enjoy the music from Mairead McManus, Katie Boyle, Johnny Canning and whoever turns up on the night. Starts at 8.00pm.

The Open Mic/Stage Sessions next week are: The Abbey at 9pm on Monday, Ugly Duck Monday at 7pm, The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday, The Bungalow on Tuesday 7pm, The Keg on Wednesday at 8.30pm and an Open Mic on the last Tuesday of the month.
