Paisley town LIVE MUSIC this weekend and all next week

1st Oct 2026

By Tommy McGrory

Scotland’s longest running Northern Soul, Soul, 60’s and R&B band Berry Tweed (pictured) and the Chasers return to The Bungalow on Friday night, 2 October 2026.

They are one of my favourite bands and it’s great to see them back in Paisley again. It is a free entry gig, doors open at 7.00pm with band on approx 8.30pm.

It’s a welcome return for The Players tomorrow, Saturday afternoon show. You will get an explosive musical journey from 1950’s onward. Get ready for subculture inspired Blues, R&B, Soul and Northern Soul. It looks like it will be a busy one so get in early. Doors open at 1.00pm, band on approx. 2.00pm

NNE have brought back STIPE – heading back to The Bungalow on Saturday night (3 October) is the definitive tribute to R.E.M. one of the world’s most enigmatic bands. With a string of peerless albums; one eye on the underground and one eye on the soaring chorus; we will never see their like again.

From “The One I Love” through to “The End of the World” and more besides. Stipe brings you all the top songs from these icons including “Losing My Religion” and “Man on theMoon” and with all the atmosphere, attitude, emotion, and energy you’d expect. Stipe provide a sound built around jangling guitars and hazy vocals of frontman Michael Stipe.

Whether it’s playing major festivals or appearing on the One Show, performing for Michael Stipe himself, Stipe are the definitive R.E.M. tribute with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the back catalogue.  They bring R.E.M. to life on stage – the contrasts and the magic; that direct connection to the music. And finally – this from the man himself: “These guys are awesome!!” – MICHAEL STIPE – R.E.M. Tickets on the door from 7.00pm.

Catch the new look Strathclyde University Big Band live with new vocalist Janine Capaldi on Sunday afternoon. Doors open at 1.00pm and the gig is free.

The Bungalow Wednesday Club starts at 2.00pm with an afternoon of fun from singer John Griffith of The Bobby Deans Big Band the weekly quiz.

Boycott Casino, First Name Basis and Erin Hephzibah are playing at The Introducing Night on Thursday. Tickets on the door from 7.00pm.

Ronnie T kicks off at The Old Swan from 4.00pm on Friday 2 October and following him is a live band at 8.00pm. Saturday 3 October at 4.00pm in the ‘Shopper’s Slot’ is the usual live session.

The Sunday Soul Club starts at 4.00pm, followed by Nicola and Cammy at 6.00pm. Crawford Carlyle who must be one of the best singers around, starts at 5.00pm on Monday; Lee James on Tuesday, 6 October at 3pm and every second Thursday at 5.00pm and alternatively sometimes it is Cammy Miller.

Duncan McLellan will be onstage on Wednesday 5.00pm. Greg James is live at The Keg tonight (Friday 2 October) from 9.00pm and tomorrow night, Saturday 3 October it will be Sniper Alley from 9pm. There is a new Vinyl Hangout Night from 7.00pm to late on Sunday 4 October.  On Thursday 8 October, you can discover a full-line up of new or up and coming talent showcasing new original material kicking. You might find your newest favourite band. It all kicks off at 9.00pm.

Gordons Alive are at Kennedy’s tonight, Friday 2 October from 9.00pm.  On Sunday 4 October from 3.00pm there will be the usual live session up until 6.00pm.

Last Sunday it was the last band at The Inn on the Corner.  They are now live bands playing at Sportsters. Check venue for details.

Open mics are: The Abbey at 9pm on Monday; Ugly Duck Monday at 7pm; The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday; and the Trad Jam at The Anchor from 8pm.  A new Open Mic started at Sportsters on the last Tuesday of the month (Tuesday 27 October).

Finally, sad to see The Inn on the Corner shut. Big thank you to them for keeping the music live, and good luck to Nicky and crew who are with now operating from Sportsters.

Have a great week and Keep Music Live.

Tommy.
