Norman Ross

A Founder member of hospital radio in Glasgow and Paisley in 1969.

In 1973, joined the original team at Radio Clyde 261 as an evening producer, then as a presenter of the Saturday Breakfast Show, also Visiting Time on a Sunday morning. Also founded an entertainment agency and event company.

Random encounter with any celebrity?

I wouldn’t say random as my work through the years has placed me in some wonderful company. I worked for many years as as supporting artist in the many television series such as original Taggart Series, Rab C Nesbit, Take the High Road, Tutti Frutti, to name a few.  My event production work included Live8, Edinburgh 50,00 – Final Push, Scottish Cup Finals, European Cup Final 2002, Edinburgh Festival, Opening of the Falkirk Wheel and many other events. All AAA passes.

Music preferences?

My interests in music started at age 14 playing Jazz, Big Band music and at 18, progressing through the development of the Beatles era then into radio with the continual introduction of new artists and popular genres. I still play drums to all sorts of music in my home recording studio.

Any surprising facts your listeners may not know about you?

I have played in football matches at Ibrox, Hampden, Parkhead, Love Street and I enjoy racing Go karts and Formula 4 Racing cars.

1st record ever bought?   Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” number one at the time in 1957.

The “chosen few” choice records are far too many to mention but artists would be The Beatles, Phil Collins, Simply Red, ELO, Take That.
