10th anniversary for Punk on the Peninsula : Over 50 bands from around the world set to descend on Dunoon

6th May 2026

Over 50 bands from across the UK, Australia, Sweden, USA, Spain and Italy will descend on Dunoon for this year’s Punk on the Peninsula (POTP), Scotland’s only outdoor punk and alternative festival that takes place at the Coal Pier in Dunoon town from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 May 2026

Celebrating its’ 10th anniversary this year, POTP started out as a grass roots gathering in 2017 organised by punk frontman Iain Kilgallon, and has become established as a firm favourite on the international festival calendar.

Overlooking the magnificent scenery around the Firth of Clyde where the Scottish Highlands begin in earnest, POTP has built a reputation for celebrating punk music in all its forms.

Iain Kilgallon commented: “The growth of Punk on the Peninsula is down to the people who attend. They have a brilliant time, and they come back year after year with their friends.

“The setting in Dunoon is spectacular. You can be listening to your favourite band and gazing at the Clyde and Highlands.

“Our partnership with Dunoon Presents has helped us to expand over the last five years and it’s really become a target festival for international bands in the punk and alternative music scene to play as there is no other festival quite like ours” added Iain.

Jeff Turner, lead singer of Cockney Rejects, has played POTP twice and said: “This is what it’s all about. Youngsters getting involved and families attending…but still pure rock’n’roll. We love it here.”

Richard Jobson of The Skids who played POTP in 2022 added: “What a crowd! They totally energized us.”

Gary Campbell, lead singer with Sydney-based band Rust, echoed those sentiments: “We are flying over from Australia to play a series of dates in the UK and we can’t wait to play POTP again. We stay for the whole weekend as we know Iain gets exciting established and new bands. It’s one of the most authentic, fun, friendly festivals you will ever find.”

Colin Moulson of organisers Dunoon Presents explained: “It’s a place where music, community and pure, unfiltered energy collide. From legendary acts like The Macc Lads and GBH, to scene stalwarts and emerging talent, POTP is a loud, inclusive and uncompromising addition to Scotland’s music festival schedule.

“It’s only an hour from Glasgow with full weekend and day tickets available for this family friendly festival.” he added.
