Paisley live music this weekend and all next week

Tonight, Friday 21 August, at The Bungalow W2, a Scottish based U2 Tribute Band, will be playing songs from the Irish legends. Tickets on the door from 7.00pm.

On Saturday 22 August there is a Street Festival on Shuttle Street and Browns Lane. It is a family friendly festival with 5 music stages and events happening at The Refuge Church.

The action kicks off at 12.30pm and the line-up for the Main Stage is: Background Sounds, Taylor Swift Tribute, Smokin at Tiffany’s, Comhla Folk Rock Band, Dignity – Deacon Blue Tribute and No Gallaghers High Flying Birds.

The Clubhouse Original Stage features young up and coming talent including: MrDb, Aidan Gold Band, We Funky Few, Franks House, Leisureland.

The Bungalow Stage will have The Latest Flames, Shardlake, Deke McGee Band, King of Birds, Bits n Pieces, Another Whisky Country Band, Hugh Reed and the Velvet Underpants and the headline is The Dughoose Ska Band.

Brown’s Lane Acoustic Stage starts off with Matt Fotheringham, followed by Charlie Gorman, Reflections, Howlin Radio, The Latest Flames, Kieran Hepburn Trad Duo and finishes off with NU disco hits of the 70s and 80s. Steve on Sax starts off the The Shuttle stage then Tom Urie Piano Jukebox, Lux Cabaret and a silent disco. There is also a kids’ zone, circus skills, arts and crafts and food and drink. Expect a busy afternoon, so get in early. You can pay on the door.

Doors open at 1pm on Sunday afternoon for the very popular Cherry Red ’53 for more rockabilly and eerily rock n roll. Free entry.

The Bungalow Jam kicks off at 7pm on Tuesday. This week’s entertainment includes music, games, a quiz and the usual Open Mic. This is free entry.

The Bungalow Wednesday Club starts at 2.00pm with an afternoon of fun from singer John Griffith of The Bobby Deans Big Band and the weekly quiz.

Wednesday evening sees live club session. Doors are at 7.00pm.

On Thursday night The Bungalow has James McDonald, Auld Jammies and Dolan will be on stage playing live. Tickets on the door from 7.00pm.

Ronnie T kicks off at The Old Swan from 4.00pm tonight and following him is a live set from The Ryhs Stevenson at 8pm.

On Saturday 22 August at 4.00pm is the Epic – who are ‘Epic’?!

The Sunday Soul Club starts at 4.00pm.

If you have nothing to do on Monday treat yourself and get to The Old Swan to listen to the fantastic voice of Crawford Carlyle who must be one of the best singers around and he is well worth going to see. He starts at 5.00pm on Monday; Lee James on Tuesday at 3pm and every second Thursday at 5.00pm; and alternatively sometimes it is Cammy Miller.  Duncan McLellan will be onstage on Wednesday 5pm.

Johnny Barr is playing at The Keg tonight, Friday 21 August from 9.00pm. Saturday night from 9.00pm it will be Wired. On Thursday 27 August, you can discover a full line up of new or up and coming talent showcasing new original material kicking off at 9.00pm.

Kennedys have the usual live rock on Sunday at 3.00pm and later at The Inn on the Corner there is more live action from 6.00pm.

Every Thursday at The Anchor is a Scottish Trad Jam. Join in and bring an instrument, play a song or join in. Or just sit back and enjoy the music from Mairead McManus, Katie Boyle, Johnny Canning and whoever turns up on the night. Starts at 8.00pm.

The Open Mic/Stage Sessions next week are: The Abbey at 9pm on Monday, Ugly Duck Monday at 7pm, The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday, The Bungalow on Tuesday 7pm, The Keg on Wednesday at 8.30pm and an Open Mic on the last Tuesday of the month.
