Children and staff at St John Bosco Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare Class (ELCC) in Erskine have celebrated the life of their classmate, Eva Stone, who sadly passed away last year. |
The school and nursery organised heartfelt tributes to Eva that reflected her resilience and joyful spirit. This included a special Eva’s Day event, a school carnival, taking part in a Kiltwalk, and singing songs to honour Eva during their Christmas show last December.
The money raised from these events has been given to two charities: Cerebral Palsy Scotland and Brightest Star. A new annual school award was also given out for the first time. Pupil Piotr received Eva’s Award for demonstrating true friendship, joy and resilience. He was presented with a trophy and his name will also be adorned on a heart on the new tree at the school’s entrance. Over the years, this tree will grow with more names of Eva’s Award winners. Head Teacher Lynsey Gardyne said: “When our friend Eva died last year, we knew that we would never forget her and the joy she brought to all of us. Throughout this school session, we have remembered our friend Eva in both our school and ELC class and celebrated her resilience and sense of fun. “Eva’s memory will continue to shine for us. Our new Eva’s Award and the tree that will bear names of the award winners on hearts will ensure Eva’s memory and spirit continues to live on with our school community.” Picture: Pupil Piotr, winner of Eva’s Award, 2025.
