Tonight, Friday 5 July, The Bungalow is having a Soul Night and on the decks is local DJ Brian Leslie. The last one was a tremendous success. It is a great vibe with all the screens showing videos of the Wigan Casino dancers. It really adds to the night. Doors at 7.00pm and it is free entry again.

The Old Swan have Target Street in tonight, Friday 5 July at 8.00pm and tomorrow, Saturday 6 July in ‘The Shopper’s Slot’ at 4.00pm it is Aimless Nomads. The Sunday Soul Club start at 4.00pm and John and Maria will be spinning all the best Northern Soul tunes for you to dance to. Or if you are like me, just sit and enjoy the music.
I caught up with John and Maria and asked how the Sunday Soul Club has been such a success. Here is what they said: “It has been a success because our regulars asked for it. We were both DJing a lot at The Old Swan and began getting a lot of requests for Northern Soul. It felt like there was room for a special session out with what we had on already. Our customers wanted to dance to music to which they could relate. So Jac the manger approached us to put on a Sunday afternoon, we tried it, and it has been popular every week.” Monday and Wednesday from 4.00pm is acoustic solo time and on Tuesday and Thursdays at 3.00pm it is the incredibly talented Lee James.
Andrew O’Donnell will be at The Keg tonight, Friday 5 July, and he starts at 9.00pm. Saturday night, 6 July, Peely Wally are back, and they kick off at 9.00pm. On Thursday 11 July it is The Keg Sessions for new emerging talent. Why not pop in and get some great American style food while watching the latest young talent playing their original work. The music starts at 9.00pm.
If you are out and about on Sunday afternoon and you are looking for a bit of live action, why don’t you take a wee walk into The Inn on the Corner and catch Jenni and the Blockheads from 4.30pm.
