Paisley Pirates Battle Hard but Fall to Whitley Warriors in Away Fixture

30th Sep 2025

The Paisley Pirates faced a tough challenge on the road, on Sunday, 28th September, as they went up against the Whitley Warriors at the Hillheads Road ice rink.

Despite a spirited performance and no shortage of effort across the bench, the Pirates fell 7–2 to a clinical and well-executing Whitley side.

While the scoreline did not fall in Paisley’s favour, the effort and resilience on display were clear. Head Coach Ian Turley emphasised that the result will serve as a learning experience as the Pirates continue to build momentum in the early stages of the season.

A bright spot in the evening came from goaltender Callum Donaghy, who was awarded Man of the Match honours.

Making his first appearance of the season after being sidelined for several months, Donaghy produced a string of excellent saves and displayed outstanding team spirit. His return to the ice was a welcome boost for the club.

The Pirates also extended thanks to the Whitley Warriors organisation for their hospitality and to the travelling supporters who made the journey south to back the team.

The Pirates will look to regroup and refocus as they prepare for their next fixture, determined to turn lessons learned at Hillheads into fuel for the season ahead.
