The Paisley Pirates were edged out 4–3 in overtime by the Whitley Warriors in a fiercely contested encounter that had everything — intensity, momentum swings, and a buzzing crowd right to the final whistle.
The Pirates showed character throughout, battling hard and forcing the game beyond regulation after an evenly matched 60 minutes. Goals from Ryan Parkin, Marty Simpson, and Jamie Whitelaw kept the home side firmly in the contest, with the team responding each time they were tested.
Overtime proved cruel, as the Warriors found the decisive goal before the Pirates could capitalise on their chances. While it’s a disappointing way to lose, the Pirates leave the evening with a valuable point and plenty of positives from a committed performance.
A special congratulations goes to Marty Simpson, deservedly named Man of the Match, capping off a strong individual display with a goal and relentless work rate throughout.
Credit to the Whitley Warriors for a hard-fought game and for bringing what was undoubtedly the best travelling support seen at the rink this season.
The Pirates are back in action next weekend, travelling to face the North Ayrshire Wild on 14th March, before returning home on 15th March to welcome the Solway Sharks SNL.
