A local cricket club in Paisley is launching a brand-new sponsorship scheme aimed at giving potential backers an improved opportunity to support them, while greatly enhancing their chances of publicising their business and promoting their partnership with one of the best-known cricket outfits in the country.
Ferguslie Cricket Club, which plays in the top league of club cricket in the West of Scotland, and who finished third overall in the race for the title in 2025, has announced a scheme which will see the successful sponsors gain exposure to well over 100,000 potential customers on a regular basis throughout the year, and for comparatively little financial outlay.
President John Docherty explained: “Up until this season, we’ve simply put the name of our sponsors onto the front of our team jerseys, a standard practice amongst many sporting clubs like us, via a raffle type draw. However, we thought we could perhaps improve on that deal and what we’ve come up with, we believe, gives backers much more for their money. In essence, we have advertising space next to the scoreboard, which is a well known landmark locally, and what we’re going to do is put our main sponsor’s board adjacent to it, which means their name will be seen 365 days of the year, rather than merely when matches are being played at Meikleriggs, and in much bigger characters, so passing traffic will see the company’s name every time they pass the ground. This ensures that sponsors will get all the year round publicity, rather than merely during the cricket season.”
John added: “Our research suggests that between passing traffic, those going to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and members of the public using Corsebar Rd there is in excess of 200,000 pairs of eyes in the vicinity of the ground during the year, representing a huge, untapped source of advertising for potential backers of the club.
What we’re asking possible sponsors to do is buy tickets which will have their name on them, and at our Grand Draw before the season commences, we’ll draw out the winning tickets, which are £30 for one, £50 for two, and £100 for five.
The outright main sponsor will have a four feet by sixteen feet advertising board place beside the scoreboard displaying their name, the runner up will receive two tickets for the annual club dinner, while the third placed ticket holder will win a cricket tea with drink for a party of 4 at one of our home matches this season. Potential sponsors can contact me at 07914 392556 or johntdoc@hotmail.com for more information. We’re always looking at ways of giving something back to the folk who support the club and we believe this scheme allows us to do so as our ‘thank you’.”
