Police appeal following attempted robbery in Paisley

Police Scotland Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery at a newsagent shop in Paisley.  The incident happened around 9.55pm on Friday 3 April 2026, at a premises on Glasgow Road, Paisley.

A man entered the store and demanded money from the till while threatening the shopkeeper with a knife. There were no injuries however the member of staff was left shaken.

Nothing was stolen and the suspect made off from the area, heading west along Glasgow Road.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 8ins, of medium build. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a face covering and all dark clothing.

Detective Sergeant Kenny McLachlan said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of this incident and tracing the person responsible.

I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and witnessed what happened to please contact us.

In addition, we are asking members of the public to check CCTV and dash-cam footage as this may hold something relevant.”
