Renfrewshire to honour Armed Forces community

17th Jun 2026
The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised outside Renfrewshire House in a short service on Friday 19 June to mark Armed Forces Day.
Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

The service will take place at 11.00am outside Renfrewshire House with refreshments available shortly after in Paisley Abbey.

The flag will be raised by Ex-Serviceman Robert Cunningham, Queen’s Own Highlanders, and will fly outside Renfrewshire House for 10 days.

Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron said: “Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families and it’s important we continue to highlight how much we appreciate their contributions to our country.

“This year there will be a family fun day on Armed Forces Day in partnership with the Royal British Legion Paisley Comrades branch and I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and join me in showing support for our Armed Forces and their families.”

The Armed Forces Day Family Open Day will take place on Saturday 27 June 2026 from 12 midday at the Royal British Legion at 13-19 Renfrew Road, Paisley.

The event is open to all and there will be a variety of activities on offer including games, a bouncy castle, face painting, live music and a BBQ.
