Renfrewshire Council launches Your Voice Matters engagement across communities this summer

10th Jun 2026

Renfrewshire residents are being invited to help shape the future of their communities as Renfrewshire Council and Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership launch a major joint public engagement programme, Your Voice Matters, this summer.

The programme will help develop the priorities for the Council, the HSCP and their community planning partners for the next 5 to 10 years.

Over the next six months, Renfrewshire Council and the HSCP staff will be at events and in communities across Renfrewshire, speaking directly with people to understand what matters most to residents and what they want to see in their communities in the years ahead.

These plans will guide how Renfrewshire delivers essential services, supports those most in need, grows the local economy, improves the local environment, and enhances education, health and wellbeing in communities.

The Your Voice Matters programme aims to ensure residents and communities can play an active role in decisions about the future of Renfrewshire and can shape future decisions on council services and investment.

Leader of Renfrewshire Council, Councillor Iain Nicolson, said: “Listening to our communities is an essential part of making fair, sustainable and effective decisions as a council.

“We’re committed to working with our communities to ensure our priorities are shaped by what people tell us matters most to them. This approach has already helped shape this year’s budget which put fairness, wellbeing and local pride in our place, at the heart of our decisions, based on resident research carried out last year.

“We know communities and businesses are facing a number of pressures at the moment and public services are also facing challenges, with increasing costs, greater demand and a changing population.

“By working closely with our health and social care colleagues, we will be able to have a joined-up conversation about a wide range of topics, explain some of the challenges we face to secure local services for the longer term, and hear what matters most to people and where they want our focus to be in the years ahead.

“Through Your Voice Matters we want to hear from as many people as possible so together we can shape a future that serves everyone in Renfrewshire and I invite everyone to have their say.”

Margaret Kerr, Chair of the Renfrewshire Integration Joint Board, said: “This is a great opportunity for people across Renfrewshire to help shape the longer-term future of health and social care in their communities. Local people’s experiences and ideas will be vital as we look to transform services to maintain sustainability, while continuing to deliver care that is person-centred and responsive in the years ahead.

“By working closely with our council partners and listening directly to residents, we can better understand what support people need to live well, remain independent and feel connected in their communities. I encourage everyone to get involved and make sure their voice is heard.”

Your Voice Matters builds on research carried out in 2025, when residents shared their views on local services and priorities. These insights have already helped inform the council’s 2026–27 budget priorities, demonstrating how community feedback drives real change.

Engagement activity will continue beyond the summer when there will be more opportunities for communities to engage with the council and share their views and experiences.

The feedback gathered, both through events and wider engagement, will directly inform the new Council and Community Plans and the Integration Joint Board Strategic Plan, ensuring they reflect what people across Renfrewshire need and value most.

Residents are encouraged to look out for council staff at community events throughout Renfrewshire over the coming months and take the opportunity to share their views.
