Hundreds access support as Renfrewshire Employability Month continues

17th Sep 2025

Hundreds of people looking for work, new skills or qualifications have already benefitted from Renfrewshire Employability Month – and there are still a number of events still to come.

The Renfrewshire Local Employability Partnership (RLEP) is running a packed programme of recruitment events, employer workshops and school and college visits throughout September, with major employers including WH Malcolm and Scottish Leather Group involved.

Jobs fairs, volunteering events, and information sessions on careers in logistics, the environment, digital and sport have already taken place as hundreds of people access the support provided by Renfrewshire Council and its partners.

Events still to come include:

  • Careers With Purpose – Jobs in the voluntary and community sector – Thursday 18 September, The Russell Institute, 30 Causeyside Street, Paisley PA1 1UR
  • SelfEmployment with Start-Up Street – Thursday 18 September, Start-Up Street Renfrew, 7-11 Dunlop Street, Renfrew PA4 8PQ
  • First impressions count: Interview advice for jobs – Friday 19 September, Southend Action Centre, 51-55 Stock Street, Paisley PA2 6NG
Working in the Public Sector – Careers that Count – Tuesday 23 September, Paisley Town Hall, Abbey Close, Paisley PA1 1JF
  • Careers advice clinic – Tuesday 23 September, Southend Action Centre, Stock Street, Paisley PA2 6NG
  • Jobs Fair – Thursday 25 September, Russell Institute, 30 Causeyside Street, Paisley PA1 1UR

Councillor Andy Steel, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Economy and Regeneration Policy Board, said: “I’m delighted to see such a positive response so far as employers throughout Renfrewshire try to attract new talent to their organisation and our employability teams support people into the workplace or further education.

“Employability Month gives us the chance to showcase the range of opportunities on offer, but also highlight the advice and support we provide throughout the year to those looking for work, a career change or a new direction entirely.

“There’s still a number of events to come before the month ends so I’d encourage everyone to meet with our fantastic council team or our partners and find your next role, whatever that might be.”
