Draft Redevelopment Strategy planned for Glasgow City Centre

15th Oct 2023

The People of Glasgow will soon have the chance to have their say on Glasgow’s new city centre strategy this month.

A draft strategy of priority actions will be considered by residents and the City Councillors to include the redevelopment of George Square. Work is due to start in Spring 2025 and may include the build of a River Park at the Broomielaw.

The City’s night life is also to be considered. The purpose is to identify all the challenges and solutions facing businesses.

A “dedicated team” will look to owners of vacant property units to try and bring them back to use.

The Council’s City Administration Committee have approved  the consultation plan and Councillors have also noted a request for additional funding of £5 million to meet costs.
